 "No PUC, No Insurance Renewal " - Hon. Supreme Court. :  Adv. ROHiT ERANDE. © Facts in short : 1. The Hon. Apex Court has been giving directions for decades now to curb the menace of Pollution. As we all are aware, the main sources contributing to air pollution are well identified i.e. Industrial Pollution, Vehicle Exhaust, resuspended dust on the roads due to vehicle movement and construction activities. 2. The Environment crusader M.C. Mehta literally single handedly fighting against this menace. Last year, their Lordships of Hon. Apex Court passed interim order thereby making obtaining mandatory PUC i.e. Pollution Under Control Certificate before renewing Vehicle Insurance. (Ref. M.C. Mehta V/s. *वाहन इन्शुरन्स रिन्यू करायचाय , मग आधी पीयूसी प्रमाणपत्र घ्या : मा. सर्वोच्च न्यायालय*   ऍड. रोहित एरंडे.  ©   वाहनांच्या धुरामुळे होणारे वायु प्रदुषण हे सर्वात जास्त आहे आणि आपण सर्व जण प्रत्यक्ष-अप्रत्यक्षपणे परिणाम भोगत आहोत. प्रदूषण कमी व्हावे ह्यासाठी वाहन कंपन्या ते मा. सर्वोच्च न्यायालय हे सर्वच जण प्रयत्नशील आहेत. मा. सर्वोच्च न्यायालय सुमारे १९८५ पासून प्रदुषण रोखण्यासाठी वेळोवेळी निर्णय देत आहेत आणि त्याचाच परिपाक म्हणजे सुमारे २ वर्षांपूर्वी मा. सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने पीयुसी प्रमाणपत्र असल्याशिवाय वाहन इन्शुरन्स काढता येणार नाही / रिन्यू करता येणार नाही असा महत्वपूर्ण अंतरिम निकाल एम.सी.मेहता विरुद्ध भारत सरकार ह्या याचिकेच्या निमित्ताने दिला. त्याचप्रमाणे देशभरातील पीयूसी सेन्टर्स ऑनलाइन पद्धतीने केंद्र सरकारच्या "वाहन" प्रणालीशी जोडणे, इन्शुरन्स कंपन्यांनी त्यांच्याकडील ज्या वाहनांची पीयूसी तपासणी केली आहे त्यांच्याबद्दलची माहिती वाहन मंत्रालयाला दयावी जेणेकरून पीयूसी नसलेल्या वाहन मालकांना नोटीस बजावत येतील आणि भारतभर "नो पीयूसी नो पॉलिसी"
